Understand What Has NOT Worked<\/div>\n\n
Taking the largest school district in Kentucky as an example, Louisville\/Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) have half of the worst performing schools in Kentucky, less than half of the students are reading a grade level, and less than one third are proficient in math.<\/p>\n

THROWING MONEY AT THE SCHOOLS DOESN’T WORK: JCPS spends more per capita per student (and has the highest tax burden) of any county school district in KY.<\/p>\n

THROWING MONEY AT THE TEACHERS DOESN’T WORK: In 2022, JCPS will have the highest median teacher salary in the state.<\/p>\n

It clearly isn’t resources, but how those resources are spent, and non-financial (even extra-curricular) factors that largely determine student achievement.<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \n <\/div>\n\n \n

Children do not belong to the state, and PARENTS MUST BE EMPOWERED to shape their children’s upbringing & education. <\/strong><\/p>\n

We embrace a PARENTAL BILL OF RIGHTS to counteract the corrosive, institutional Marxist Insanity in our educational system.
\n<\/strong>Parents have a right to: <\/strong>
\n*SAFETY<\/strong>: … know their children are physically safe when sent to school, through adequate law enforcement & security.
\nKeys for safety: HARDEN SCHOOLS.\u00a0 REQUIRE SROs.\u00a0 ALLOW CERTIFIED TEACHERS\/STAFF TO CARRY FIREARMS.\u00a0 EXPAND ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS & MENTAL ILLNESS RESOURCES FOR KIDS WITH PERSISTENT BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS.
\n*TRANSPARENCY<\/strong>: … proactively know what their children are being taught, through mandatory posting of all lesson plans at least one week ahead of time on the school’s website. Parents should have to explicitly OPT-IN to any controversial instruction (incl. the next two categories). In-person Public Comment periods should be mandatory for all School Board meetings (or legislative hearings).
\n*NON-INDOCTRINATION<\/strong>: … NOT have their children indoctrinated in, or even willfully (favorably) exposed to, Marxist Ideology, or Race or Sex Discrimination in Public Ed (HB 18).
\n*NON-SEXUALIZATION \/ NON-CORRUPTION<\/strong>: … determine the age of exposure to sexual material that their children receive. The public school has no business addressing concepts like Sex (prior to high school), Sexuality, or Gender (esp. Fluidity); that is a parent’s role. This includes prohibiting pornography & obscenity in schools (incl. library resources). Also, any discussion or counseling must be disclosed to the parent.
\n*QUALITY SCHOOLS<\/strong>: … have good educational options WITHIN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES. Within a School District, experienced public school teachers should be required to teach in significantly under-performing schools (rather than this being teacher union-driven & up to senior teacher discretion). Also, we must have educational tax Money Follows the Child School Choice<\/strong>, including to charter, home-, and private (incl. religious) schools (discussed below).<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \n <\/div>\n\n \n

“Money Follows the Child” SCHOOL CHOICE<\/strong><\/h3>\n


\nWe must Empower Legislators to finally fix & elevate the KY educational system, so there are no more excuses. <\/strong>While the government has a compelling interest in assuring an educated populous, this does NOT mean that they have a compelling interest in controlling all education.<\/p>\n

We support True “Money Follows the Child” SCHOOL CHOICE: Public education revenue should go wherever Parents choose to educate their kids. <\/strong><\/p>\n

This means:<\/strong>
\n(1) Permanent funding of legal Charter Schools (still “public schools,” just with less school board oversight).
\n(2) KY Constitutional Amendment removing Section 189<\/strong>, which prohibits governmental education funds going to religious schools (an anti-religious violation of #1A requiring litigation). Give legislators ALL options for improving our schools, including competition.
\n(3) Educational cost reimbursement<\/strong>: initially via HB 563 (2021) Tax Credit matching, soon via a true Voucher program introducing real choice\/options to poor parents and true competition in the educational system.
\n*Also, consider the dissolution of the Federal Department of Education, returning control of public education to each state, consistent with the US Constitution: Amendment #10, and delegated roles of Gov’t.<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \n <\/div>\n\n \n
